Facts

  • Reform UK launched its UK election manifesto on Monday, with party leader Nigel Farage calling on Conservative Party members to 'join the revolt' to take on the Labour Party.1
  • The manifesto includes leaving the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR), halting all non-essential immigration, and returning all small boat illegal immigrants to France. It also includes scrapping green energy initiatives and cutting foreign aid by 50%.2
  • Farage further plans to raise the minimum taxable annual income to £20K ($25.3K), abolish the inheritance tax for all estates valued at under £2M ($2.5M), and abolish Stamp Duty below £750K ($951K).2
  • Reform UK also wants to implement a 'patriotic curriculum' in primary and secondary education, cut taxes on independent education by 20%, and 'ban transgender ideology' in primary and secondary schools. Those on welfare would also get cut off if they repeatedly decline job offers.2
  • According to the latest YouGov polling, Reform UK (19%) has now overtaken the governing Conservatives (18%) as the second most popular political party in the UK, remaining behind Labour's 37%.3
  • However, when translated into House of Commons seats, an MRP poll by Best for Britain shows Reform gaining only seven seats compared to Labour's 456, the Conservative's 72, the Liberal Democrats' 56, and the Scottish National Party's (SNP) 37.4

Narratives

  • Reform narrative, as provided by The Telegraph. The UK has seen steady cultural and economic decline for decades, and the Conservatives have done nothing but pretend to take a stand against Labour. As Labour is set to take over the government, Britain will inevitably face crushing tax hikes while continuing to witness rising social tensions due to mass migration. Over the next four years, Reform UK will become the anti-establishment saving grace UK citizens latch on to as the old guard withers away.
  • Labour narrative, as provided by Guardian. Nigel Farage understands that he has no chance of gaining power, so his main goal is to destroy the Conservative Party out of spite. The Tories are no longer able to keep their far-right factions at bay, which is why they will lose thousands of critical votes in July as Labour swoops in to pick up seats in Parliament. While some xenophobic voters see this as a growing movement, in reality, it's just the decline of the entire Conservative Party.
