Facts

  • Former US Pres. Donald Trump will not meet Ukrainian Pres. Volodymyr Zelenskyy this week, an insider from the Republican presidential candidate's team told the Associated Press on Tuesday.[1]
  • Zelenskyy was in the US for two days of UN General Assembly meetings this week. On Thursday, he is scheduled to meet US Pres. Joe Biden before meeting Vice Pres. Kamala Harris, the Democrat presidential candidate, later in the day.[2]
  • The Ukrainian leader is expected to brief the pair on Ukraine's 'victory plan' — Zelenskyy's vision for bringing the two-and-a-half-year war with Russia to an end.[2]
  • While Trump supports ending the war — on Tuesday repeating his claim that if elected president, he would resolve the conflict quickly — he has frequently been at odds with Zelenskyy.[1]
  • During the campaign event in Savannah, Georgia, on Tuesday, Trump repeated his characterization of Zelenskyy as 'the greatest salesman on Earth' for securing billions in funding every time he visits the US.[1]
  • Trump also extolled Russia's military strength during the event, stating: 'Biden says, 'We will not leave until we win.' What happens if they win? That's what they do, is they fight wars. As somebody told me the other day, they beat Hitler, they beat Napoleon. That's what they do. They fight. And it's not pleasant.'[1]

Narratives

  • Left narrative, as provided by The Daily Beast. Russian Pres. Vladimir Putin invades Ukraine and who does Trump blame? The United States of America. The man who consistently sides with Russia over his own country is not fit to be president.
  • Right narrative, as provided by PJ Media. Under Democrat leadership, numerous new conflicts have started — bringing us as close to World War III as we've ever been. Russia's invasion of Ukraine would never have happened under Trump and he knows exactly how to fix the situation.
