• Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani on Tuesday was disbarred from practicing law in his home state of New York.¹
• This comes as a result of the New York Appellate Division First Department's decision that — while representing former Pres. Donald Trump and his campaign — Giuliani made multiple 'false and misleading statements to courts' and the public about the 2020 presidential election.²
• Giulian claimed that thousands of votes were cast in the names of people who were either dead, felons, non-citizens, or underaged individuals, as well as that ballots were smuggled across state lines — particularly in Arizona, Georgia, and Pennsylvania.³
• The First Department ruled Giuliani 'flagrantly misused' his position to attack the integrity of the electoral process, and 'actively contributed to the national strife' after the election. Previously his New York law license was suspended in 2021.⁴
• A Giuliani spokesperson Tuesday said that the disbarment ruling will be challenged. Giuliani has also faced similar proceedings in Washington, D.C., where he has been suspended pending a final ruling by the Court of Appeals.⁵
