Musk Reorganizes X's Trust and Safety Team

X (formerly Twitter) owner Elon Musk and CEO Linda Yaccarino are set to oversee the company's trust and safety team, the social media platform announced on Monday.¹
According to Yaccarino, X's product and engineering teams will report to Musk, while all other divisions – including human resources, legal, and finance – will report to her.¹
The reorganization of the trust and safety team, which is responsible for content moderation, has come after Ella Irwin resigned as the division's head in June.²
In an email to X employees, Yaccarino also said that the company is searching for a new head of brand safety and stability, after former executive AJ Brown left the company last month.³
Since taking over the microblogging platform last year, Musk has fired more than half the company's staff, rebranded the company to X, and loosened its content moderation, including by reinstating several accounts that had been previously suspended.⁴

Competitors are having difficulty gaining ground, while X just set a new record for monthly users. It's taking time for Musk to get the platform on the right track, but progress is clearly being made.

There's no reason to believe this reorganization will make it any better, as the plans still involve Musk overseeing many of its crucial activities. X will be a dangerous purveyor of hostile rhetoric until he adequately restaffs the trust and safety division with competent department heads and workers.
