- Dorn, 77, responded on June 2 to alarms going off at Lee's Pawn and Jewelry in northern St. Louis, firing off warning shots to deter a group looting the store before being shot by Cannon.2
- Video of Dorn's death was briefly broadcast on Facebook Live after the shooting, footage prosecutors played in court.1
- Along with first-degree murder - which will give Cannon a mandatory sentence of life in prison without parole - he was convicted of robbery, burglary, and armed criminal action.3
- Prosecutors allegedly proved Cannon was the only one on the corner when shots were fired. Police also reportedly recovered a gun, televisions from the pawn shop, and pieces of his hair at an apartment where he was staying.1
- Cannon's attorney's argued the prosecution's main witness was unreliable and that he provided no physical evidence linking Cannon to the shooting, though Cannon did acknowledge it was him on CCTV footage.2

Narratives
- Right narrative, as provided by Red State. Justice has been served for the family of a true hero, despite the lack of coverage from the mainstream media who ignored this incident in an effort to portray the riots as peaceful. Dorn devoted his life and career to keeping others safe, and rioters took his life while they were ironically protesting another death. This is a small but significant victory for the victims of those riots.
- Left narrative, as provided by Heavy. This verdict should be celebrated, but not seen as a victory for the Right who have shamefully politicized Dorn's death. Although he was killed during a BLM protest, that doesn't mean he was against the movement - he's not a symbol, just a good cop struck down doing what he loved.
