Israel Says Hamas Command in North Gaza Destroyed

Three months into the war, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on Saturday claimed to have dismantled Hamas' 'military framework' in the northern Gaza Strip, adding that focus has shifted to destroying the pro-Palestinian outfit in central and southern Gaza.¹
According to IDF spokesman Daniel Hagari, Hamas militants are now operating 'without commanders' in northern Gaza, after the Israeli Army killed nearly 8K fighters from the terrorist group.²
The IDF also claimed that the commander of Hamas' Nuseirat battalion Ismail Siraj — who was allegedly behind the Oct. 7 attacks on Israel's Kibbutz Be'eri — and his deputy, Ahmed Wahaba, have been eliminated in an airstrike in southern Gaza.³
The reported dismantling of Hamas' military capabilities in northern Gaza comes as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reiterated that Israel will continue its campaign to 'eliminate Hamas, return our hostages, and ensure that Gaza will no longer be a threat to Israel.'⁴
Furthermore, Lebanon's Hezbollah launched over 60 rockets into Israel on Saturday 'as part of the initial response' to the killing of Sheikh Saleh al-Aruri, Hamas' deputy leader, in Beirut on Tuesday. The development raised fears of the conflict spreading beyond Gaza.⁵
Meanwhile, hundreds of thousands of protestors rallied in Tel Aviv, Haifa, and Caesarea on Saturday evening, calling for the immediate release of Israeli hostages held in Gaza, Netanyahu's resignation, and an end to the hostilities.⁶
