Hunter, James Biden Subpoenaed in House Impeachment Inquiry

The US House Oversight Committee on Wednesday said it subpoenaed Pres. Joe Biden’s son Hunter and brother James, as well as business associate Rob Walker, as part of its ongoing impeachment inquiry.¹
The House impeachment inquiry began in September. Members of the Republican majority are looking into accusations that Biden made policy decisions that personally enriched him and his family while he was vice president for Pres. Barack Obama.²
Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.), chairman of the House Oversight Committee, said that the committee has financial documents demonstrating that businesses took part in a scheme to conceal contributions from foreign adversaries. The committee asserts that over about five years, the Biden family and their 20 shell corporations collected more than $24M from foreign nations.³
The probe has been dismissed by both the White House and the Biden family's personal lawyers as a political ploy designed to harm Biden’s bid for reelection.⁴
While Hunter Biden's lawyer, Abbe Lowell, claims there is no basis for the subpoena, he confirmed that president's son would comply.⁵
Hunter Biden's testimony is expected Dec. 13, while his uncle's is set for Dec. 6 and Walker's for Nov. 29.⁶
