  • Hezbollah announced Naim Qassem as its new leader on Tuesday, following the Israeli killing of its longtime leader Hassan Nasrallah and his likely successor Hashem Safieddine. Israel has implied he would be assassinated soon 'if he follows his predecessors.'[1]

  • According to Lebanon's health ministry, Israeli strikes this week left at least 60 dead, including two children, in the eastern Beqaa Valley. At least 2.7K people have been killed and 1.3M displaced in Lebanon since the conflict broke out on Oct. 8, 2023.[5]
  • Meanwhile on Tuesday, the UN's peacekeeping force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) said that its Naqoura headquarters was hit by rocket fire, blaming Hezbollah or 'an affiliated group.' In response, Israel — whose forces attacked UNIFIL positions several times last month — accused Hezbollah of systematically violating international law.[6][7]
