Ex-Trump Lawyer to Cooperate in Arizona 'Fake Electors' Case
Facts
- According to the agreement, Arizona will drop the charges against her in exchange for cooperation. Ellis was one of 18 people indicted in Fulton County for their participation in an alleged plot to overturn the results of the 2020 election in Arizona.[1]
- Ellis and several Trump allies — including former Chief of Staff Mark Meadows and former NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani — were indicted in April for attempting to submit fake documents declaring Trump the winner of Arizona's election. They face nine felony charges.[2][3]
- Arizona also filed conspiracy, fraud, and forgery charges against 11 Republicans who attested that Trump won the state's electors. Trump's team tried to install 'alternate' electors in seven states, including Georgia, which brought felony charges against Trump, Ellis, and several others.[4]
- Ellis pleaded guilty in the Georgia election interference case last year and has now agreed to testify 'at any time and place.' Defendants Kenneth Chesebro, Sidney Powell, and Scott Hall have also agreed to cooperation deals in the same case.[1]
- Mayes confirmed that the proceedings against the other 17 defendants remain ongoing, while she praised Ellis' agreement as a 'significant step forward in our case.'[5]

Narratives
- Anti-Trump narrative, as provided by MSNBC. Ellis has made the right choice, and she will be instrumental in holding Trump and his cronies responsible for their anti-democratic shenanigans. Ellis already pleaded guilty to similar charges in Georgia, so she got a good deal from Mayes. Trump's attempts to overturn Joe Biden's victory violated the will of the people and, hopefully, Ellis will shed light on the depth of Trump's plan.
- Pro-Trump narrative, as provided by The Gateway Pundit. Jenna Ellis turned on her former colleagues, selling them out to save herself from corrupt partisan prosecution. Mayes, like many of her Democrat colleagues in other states, is using lawfare to target Trump and weaponize the justice system. Instead of standing against this abuse of justice, Jenna Ellis is aiding and abetting this attack.
