• In a meeting aimed at shoring up support for Ukraine should former Pres. Donald Trump lead the US once again, former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson this week traveled to the US and met with Trump at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.¹
• Posting a picture of the pair showing Trump with a bandaged ear after the assassination attempt, Johnson said, 'Great to meet President Trump who is on top form after the shameful attempt on his life.'²
• He added, 'We discussed Ukraine and I have no doubt that he will be strong and decisive in supporting that country and defending democracy.'²
• The assertion came although Trump has refrained from commenting on whether military aid to Ukraine would continue should he return to the White House. He has claimed that were he to be elected for a second time, he would end the Russia-Ukraine conflict within a day.³
• The worry that military aid to Ukraine would dry up under Trump's watch was given fresh impetus this week after Sen. JD Vance of Ohio was selected as his running mate.⁴
