Narratives
- Democratic narrative, as provided by CNN. This egregiously violent act shows once again how necessary it is to strengthen gun laws in the US. It should be more difficult to access guns so that they don’t wind up in the wrong hands. Organizations, like the National Rifle Association – which sued Gov. Wes Moore over a gun safety bill he signed – aren’t helping, and should instead work to keep communities like Baltimore safer.
- Republican narrative, as provided by Breitbart. Maryland already has a red-flag law, universal background checks, a ban on high-capacity magazines, and other gun restrictions that are popular with Democrats, yet none of those laws stopped this tragedy or others that have happened in the city that’s ranked No. 8 for gun control by Everytown for Gun Safety. It’s time for liberals to look for other solutions to this problem.
